Support for Victims of Domestic Violence

The Police Department wishes to inform readers of three victim support programs designed for individuals involved with domestic violence, serious crime or substance abuse:

  • Battered Women's Resources Inc. assists victims of domestic abuse receive shelter, legal advocacy, and domestic abuse counseling. You may call Battered Women's Resources, Inc at their emergency hotline telephone number 1-877-785-2020 or at (978) 537-2306.
  • F.O.C.U.S. is a program of the Mental Health Association of Greater Lowell which provides support and free counseling to victims of serious violent crime. Interested persons may call the F.O.C.U.S. program at (978) 458-6282 to learn more.
  • The Governors Advisory Council on Alcoholism and Narcotics Abuse in collaboration with the Executive Office of Public Safety and Department of Public Health provides a substance abuse information and education helpline for individuals seeking information concerning substance abuse treatment programs, support groups, self help meetings or counseling services. The toll free telephone number is 1-800-327-5050, 24 hours 7 days a week (TTY) 1-617-536-5872. Al-Anon is also available at 1-800-356-9996. Informational pamphlets are located in the front lobby of the police station.
