The Town of Dunstable, following the prior recommendations of the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, established the position of Town Administrator in early 2014. The position was initially filled on an interim basis until the town hired its first Town Administrator in June of 2015. In the summer of 2018 the town entered a transition period after the departure of the second Town Administrator which concluded with the hiring of Brian M. Palaia as the new Town Administrator starting in January of 2019.
Mr. Palaia is a resident of Oxford, Massachusetts who has extensive municipal experience having worked in multiple states including Connecticut, New Jersey, Vermont, and Massachusetts. Mr. Palaia started off in Connecticut working first for the State of Connecticut and later for the Town of Ledyard. He has also worked for Vernon, NJ, Milton, Vt, and most recently was the Town Manager of his hometown of Oxford prior to becoming Town Administrator in Dunstable.
