Restoring Public Safety Positions

For this fiscal year, FY24, the Town reduced its budget in the key areas of Police, Fire, Highway, and departments in Town Hall. The Police Department staffing was reduced by one police officer position. This has resulted in having only one officer covering the overnight shift in Dunstable. The Fire Department was reduced to only one per diem firefighter budgeted for the daytime shift. Both of these positions have been restored in the FY25 proposed budget and, as a result, have increased costs in these respective departments.
