CEMETERY COMMISSION
Minutes
February 21, 2023
Call to order at 10 a.m.
Present: Chair- Susan Tully, Secretary- Susan Psaledakis, Member- Catherine Irzyk, Superintendent- Alan Chaney, Town Clerk - Ellen Faiella.
Motion to sign deed as prepared for Joanne & Shannon Grant (section D, Lot #89) by S. Psaledakis. Passed. Deed signed by members and notarized by Town Clerk
Motion to accept Minutes of September 28 and November 3. All in favor.
Alan reported on Stats for 2022 for the Annual Town Report:
Burials: 10 current residents, 7 former residents, 6 Family members of first 2 categories.
Projects completed included 1 bow gate, painting of tool shed, new wider shed,
Removal of pine tree at Rideout Cemetery.
Work on Central Cemetery fencing continues.
New gate for Meetinghouse Hill is on schedule.
Discussion of next year's budget increase from 21k to 25k. Reasons for increase include water (use has doubled, probably due to drought, and new faucets drip if not tightened properly), 2% cola, and overall growth of new monuments.
Confirmed that 50% of grave cost goes to Perpetual Care Fund.
Re. New shed...20% if Proctor Chapel Fund could be used (approx $6k) for this project. Other funding may come from Fletcher and Swallow Funds.
Rideout wall needs extensive rebuilding. Possible use of CPA funds?
Wall at Central Cemetery will be closely monitored during Rt. 113 project.
New large mower will cost approximately $9k. That and new Shed may be projects for Fall TM.
