Ebola

The Town of Dunstable has protocols in place for dealing with potential cases of Ebola. These protocols are ones that have been recommended by the CDC and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. The Fire Dept., Police Dept., and ambulance services are all working with the Dunstable Board of Health to ensure that our response as a community is coordinated and appropriate.

The likelihood of a US Citizen who has not traveled to one of the affected countries contracting Ebola is exceedingly low. Transmission of the disease requires contact with the bodily fluids of someone has the disease and is showing symptoms. There is no known risk of airborne transmission. People are not contagious until after they have shown symptoms. Those most at risk are people who provide care for those already infected, a group that includes both family and medical personnel. There has been a great deal of media coverage concerning Ebola which has not always been objective or accurate. If you have any concerns, we recommend looking at the CDC website.
