FEMA Flood Map Updates
The new FEMA flood maps became effective in our community last month on July 8, 2025.
These new effective maps are available on FEMA’s Map Service Center for our community. They can be found using ‘Search All Products’ and are located under the Effective Products folder. The effective products include the Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) Panels, the Flood Insurance Study (FIS), and the GIS data (NFHL data). You can also view the maps on FEMA’s National Flood Hazard Layer Viewer by typing in an address. All previously effective products can be found in the Historic Products folder.
Please note that this website has been having some issues and the historic products are still showing under the Effective Products folder in addition to the new maps for some communities.
The Flood Hazard Management Program, MA Dept. of Conservation & Recreation office will be holding a free online training next week, Understanding FEMA’s Flood Maps. This training is scheduled for Wednesday, August 20th from 12-1:30pm. This course serves as an introduction to FEMA’s flood maps and will walk through how to access, read, and understand FEMA’s flood maps. Registration is open and you can register here.
Attached are some unofficial instructions for using FEMA’s Map Service Center.
