Licensing Process for New or Transfer of Alcohol License

 There are two main types of retail alcohol licenses with sub-types under each:

  1. Section 12 On-Premises consumption (Restaurant / Club / Tavern / General On-Premises)
    1. On-Premise All Alcohol
    2. On-Premise Wine & Malt
  2. Section 15 Off-Premises consumption (Package Store)
    1. Off-Premise All Alcohol
    2. Off-Premise Wine & Malt

Alcohol licensing is a three-phase process which takes approximately 3 months from end to end:

Phase 1:  Application, Documentation Review & Town decision. 

Phase 2:  State Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission (ABCC) approval; and

Phase 3:  Town issuance of the license.
