Would you like to have a Free Private Consultation with a Dietitian?   These will be led by professionals from AgeSpan.   They can be booked individually or an individual with a care-giver.   The sessions will be 45 minutes and run throughout the day.  Limited Spaces are available - So Do Not Hesitate to Take Advantage of this opportunity.  This session can help you manage a health condition, maintain your weight, identify food allergens, read nutrition labels and debunk nutrition myths.    These sessions will take place at Town Hall on Monday October 6th.    Contact Chuck at [email protected] or call 978-649-4514 x223 to reserve one of the spots.

Upcoming Weekly Wednesday Luncheons at The Dunstable Public Library (unless noted otherwise).   Please remember to ensure we have enough food, your reservation for lunch must be made by the prior Wednesday.   You can sign up at the luncheon or by reaching out to Chuck at [email protected] or 978-649-4514x223     A cash donation of $3-5 from those who can afford it, is greatly appreciated to offset costs.  Lunch is served at Noon but the space is available from 10-2 p.m.  Before and after lunch, there are several games you can join in on including Scrabble, Mexican Train Dominoes and Poker.  

September 10th -  There will be no lunch served at the library this week, however the space is still open for Seniors who would like to utilize the space.  This week we are heading to Salisbury Beach for lunch at Sea Glass Restaurant (Reservations are now closed).   As a reminder for those who are enrolled, we will meet at the library with transportation leaving at 10:45 a.m.   Lunch will begin at Noon at the Restaurant.   Following the restaurant, we will have some time to walk over to the beach, before heading back.   We will be stopping at Dairy Queen on the way home for Ice Cream ( this is pay your own).  There is a promotion going on where you can get a Blizzard for 85 cents with a minimum purchase of $1. however this is on their app only within their rewards program if you were so inclined to download and join before going.  

September 17th - End of Summer Luau.  Wear a tropical / Hawaiian outfit!   Hawaiian Chicken-  Grilled Chicken with Pineapple & Peppers.  Island Style Fried Rice,  Salad and Strawberry Rhubarb 

September 24th - No Lunch Served at the library.   We have been invited to the Friends of Tyngsboro Elderly's annual Fall Festival Luncheon.  From 11:30-3pm at Tyngsboro Sportsmen's Club on Westford Rd.   Always a great event!   Complimentary Tickets must be reserved by Wednesday September 10th by contacting Chuck at [email protected] or 978-649-4514 x223.   While these tickets are complimentary it is encouraged that you consider joining their organization for just $10 at the event.   This is a great event with a catered lunch and entertainment.  

 Bone Builders Excercise Class is free to residents at the Dunstable Public Library on Wednesdays at 10:30 A.M. and Friday at 11:15 A.M.  If you have not participated before, please feel free to stop by to observe and pick up enrollment paperwork.

Fit Over 50 "Barre Fusion Class" takes place each Monday at Town Hall (Lower Level) at 11:30 A.M.through early September.    This class is open to all adults who wish to attend regardless of town residency or age.   Each class is $10 ( cash or check).    We are also beginning to take sign ups for the next session that will begin on 9/22/25    $35 advance payment for the next 5 classes, we must have 9 participants to run the program.  Chuck will be present at each class if you would like to pay then or you can drop off cash/check or mail a check for $35 made out to Dunstable Council on Aging to  Dunstable Town Hall  Attention : Council on Aging 511 Main Street Dunstable, MA 01827 

New England Botanical Gardens-  A group of Dunstable Seniors are hoping to carpool and head to the New England Botanical Gardens on Tuesday September 30th as part of an AARP promotion.  If you have an AARP membership you and 5 guests can go for free.   While not an official Council on Aging event, we are happy to help connect residents who may want to participate.   Send an email to [email protected] 

 September 25th for a Fall Excursion to Buckley's Market in Hollis, NH.  Meet up with other Dunstable Residents for Lunch at Buckley's Market at 1115 a.m. and perhaps continue on for apple picking nearby.    This excursion is organized by COA but it is a Pay Your Own Way event.   We'd like to have an idea of how many are participating so signing up in advance is helpful and can be done at the senior luncheon, at Bone Builders with Ron Mayer or by contacting Chuck.

Food Truck Friday - September 12th at Larter Family Memorial Field sponsored by Windsoul Wellness Center featuring a free outdoor yoga session on the field and food by Dinner Made Simple! 

The suspension of the Monthly Wellness Checks at the library has been extended through September and October.  This is due to a staffing issue as well as uncertainty of federal funding.   We are hopeful that this program can resume in the future.  Also our monthly Tech Support from Dean Lotito is taking a hiatus until October as well.    Dean continues to make himself available by calling him at 781-367-4791

Medicare Open Enrollment: October 15 – December 7.

Health insurance costs are an important part of your budget and Medicare Open Enrollment is your opportunity to review your Medicare plans with a SHINE counselor to learn about what you can expect with your current plan in 2026, or to learn about all options that may be most cost-effective for you.

You may also benefit from cost-savings programs which a SHINE counselor will explain to you.

Medicare plans can change annually, and changes are expected for 2026.

This can affect your health care and drug costs.

SHINE = Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone…on or eligible for Medicare. Certified SHINE counselors are available all year, and offer free, unbiased, confidential counseling on all aspects of health insurance to anyone on or eligible for Medicare.

You can also join an Intro to Medicare session with a SHINE counselor on a Wednesday evening on Zoom, 5:00-7:00 pm: , August 13, September 17, October 22, November 19, December 17.  Call their office and they can share an email link to the Zoom Sessions with you.
