Protecting the Blanding Turtle

Dunstable is home to the endangered Blanding's turtle, a rare species known for its bright yellow throat and high-domed shell. These turtles can live for over 80 years, but their populations are declining due to habitat loss and road mortality.

Conservation efforts in town focus on protecting wetlands and creating safe crossings to help these turtles thrive. If you see one trying to cross, you can help by gently moving it in the direction it was headed but never relocate it far from its home!
