Dunstable Community Power to provide 18 months of stable electricity supply prices starting in June 2025

DUNSTABLE, MA – The Town of Dunstable is pleased to announce the June launch of Dunstable Community Power, a new group electricity buying program from the Town for residents and business owners. The Town has signed a contract with Dynegy that will provide savings compared with National Grid’s residential price at launch and 18 months of stable electricity supply prices. In launching the program, Dunstable joins more than 200 other communities in Massachusetts with similar programs, including the nearby communities of Pepperell, Tyngsborough, Westford, Chelmsford, and Lowell.
Participating in Dunstable Community Power will change the electricity supply price on your National Grid bill. Dunstable Community Power participants will automatically receive an electricity supply price of 14.074 ¢/kWh, which is below National Grid’s current residential supply price of 14.672 ¢/kWh and which will save an average residential customer more than $4.60/month at launch. Participants can also choose to receive 100% of their electricity from renewable sources for 16.914 ¢/kWh.
Dunstable Community Power prices are fixed and stable from June 2025 until December 2026. In contrast, National Grid’s prices change seasonally. National Grid’s current residential price is in effect through July 31, 2025, and future prices are not known. As a result, savings beyond that date cannot be guaranteed.
National Grid remains responsible for delivering electricity to Dunstable, addressing power outages, and handling all electricity billing. Dunstable Community Power impacts only your electricity supply charge. National Grid’s delivery charges are not impacted.
Like all similar programs across the state and in accordance with state law, Dunstable Community Power will use an automatic enrollment model. Electricity accounts with National Grid’s Basic Service, meaning accounts that do not have a private electricity supply contract, will be eligible for automatic enrollment in Dunstable Community Power in June and will see the new price on their July bill. Account holders eligible for automatic enrollment will receive a notification by mail in April from the Town of Dunstable. Electricity accounts with a private electricity supply contract will not be eligible for automatic enrollment but can request enrollment in Dunstable Community Power.
Participation in Dunstable Community Power is never required. Electricity customers with accounts eligible for automatic enrollment can choose to opt out before being automatically enrolled if they do not wish to participate. Any customer who does participate in Dunstable Community Power has the freedom to opt out at any time in the future with no fee or penalty.
Program details, including information about how to opt out or choose the Dunstable 100% Green option, will be available over the next few weeks on the program website, DunstableCommunityPower.com.
