Cemetery Commission Minutes 

4/24/2024

 Members Present : Catherine Irzyk, Susan Tully-Chair, Susan Psaledakis- Secretary.

Also present: Alan Chaney -Superintendent , Jason Silva-Administrator,  Brynn Durno -Town Clerk.

Meeting called to order 3:35PM

  • Minutes of Jan. 17, 2024 accepted unanimously.
  • Secretary briefly outlined a request for a buy back of Lot.  Owners, Christine and Joseph Dumont, request that the Commission buy back from them Lot #1 in Section D, a 4 grave lot, originally purchased by them on October 29, 2009 for $1000.  The Commission may buy back unused lots for the original purchase price at their discretion.  Catherine moved that we buy the lot back at this time.  Sue P. seconded and motion passed unanimously.  The Secretary will discuss the process  with Town Accountant and Town Treasurer.  She will also make a notation in the Record Book on pp 1037-1039.
  • Jason joined us to discuss the job description for the position of Superintendent .
  • Changes included, but not limited to:
  • Reference to "Monthly Commission meetings " changed to "quarterly ".
  • Delete reference to "other lawns".
  • Delete references to "sprays and insecticides". Note this may be taken up in later discussions and Catherine suggested a list of Protocols for use of chemicals.
  • Include "brush" in list of materials to be removed from each cemetery site.
  • Include "Ensures adherence to Rules and Regulations as determined and published by Commissioners ".
  • Further discussion suggested a rate of $27.50 for the position.  Jason will post the position in the usual local media and ask that applications be submitted by May 24.  It was agreed that he would meet with the Commission to review and assist in interviewing those applicants who best met the listed qualifications.
  • Brynn Durno, Town Clerk, joined us to confirm signatures and add her stamp to two deeds. George Frost had purchased 2 four-grave lots and wished to have them deeded to his two sons , Scott and Jonathan.  All live in Dunstable.  Deeds will be delivered to Georg as requested.
