CURBSIDE TRASH & RECYCLING PICKUP

Dear Subscriber:
Due to increased fuel prices for the hauler and administrative costs for the Town, the Board wants to inform you that there will be a $36/year increase in our annual trash/recycling subscription fee. For services starting July 1, 2026, the new annual fee will be $396.00/year. This remains substantially lower than private haulers that serve our town.
**TRASH WILL NOT BE PICKED UP AND A $33.00 LATE FEE WILL BE ADDED TO YOUR SUBSCRIPTION IF YOUR PAYMENT IS NOT RECEIVED BY JUNE 25, 2026.**
We need your timely payment to support our ability to effectively roll out the new year’s subscriptions. There are several ways that you can pay for your trash service:
• Pay online at dunstable-ma.gov/trashpayments.
• Mail a $396.00 check made payable to the Town of Dunstable to P.O. Box 268, Dunstable, MA 01827. Please include your name, address, phone number and email address.
• Drop off a check or cash at the Town Hall Monday-Thursday (upper level) 9:00-4:00 p.m. Please write “Trash Payment” on your envelope and ensure your name, address, phone number and email address are included.
• Drop a check in the outside dropbox of the town hall located by the side door, 24x7. Please do not leave cash in the outside dropbox, and PLEASE DO NOT USE THE BALLOT BOX.
Overflow bags can also be purchased online or at the town hall for those times you may have extra trash that will not fit into the trash container. The cost is now $4.00 each, sold in rolls of five for $20.00. Bags may be picked up at the town hall Monday -Thursday 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Please bring a copy of your receipt if you paid online.
Bulky item prices via Shaws will remain the same (see attached). Contact them directly for payment and pick up.
You may also use UTEC for lower cost mattress disposal (just $40). Visit http://www.utecinc.org/mattress-recycling. Select Dunstable from the drop-down menu, select service date, schedule, and pay. Or Email them at: mattress@utecinc.org and provide a call-back number or call (978) 856-3997.
Please note: Dunstable has joined a consortium of towns that provide year-round access to hazardous waste disposal at Devens. This will replace the annual hazardous waste day in Tyngsboro. More info about the location, costs and schedule will be provided soon.
The Board would also like to thank all who continue to use the recycling boxes next to the Post Office. These boxes have allowed hundreds of tons of recycling materials to be diverted from the waste stream and converted into reusable items. Use of these boxes also generates revenue for the Town.

The Board of Health has contracted with a waste hauler to provide Dunstable residents with a public option for curbside trash and recycling collection. The annual cost of participation is $396, based on the Massachusetts fiscal year, which runs from July 1 through June 30.
Program fees are prorated for residents who enroll after July 1. For example, residents who sign up in July pay the full annual rate of $396, while those enrolling in August pay $363. The enrollment fee continues to decrease on a prorated basis throughout the fiscal year. See the chart below.
Participation must be renewed prior to each July for the upcoming fiscal year. Regardless of when a resident initially enrolled during the previous fiscal year, the annual renewal fee is $396 for a full year of service.
Residents who are new to the program will need to arrange pickup of their trash and recycling containers through Town Hall. Payment may be made by cash or check at Town Hall or through the online payment portal using the link below.

Please note that service cannot begin until payment has been received and your enrollment has been processed.

Trash and recycling collection is scheduled for Thursdays. The Town observes six holidays that may affect collection service: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
If one of these holidays falls on a Monday through Thursday, Thursday's trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day and take place on Friday. Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly during holiday weeks.
