Active Aging is a recent initiative of the Dunstable COA to encourage participation with all eligible members of our community by offering a wide range of events, activities and resources that are available to residents 5 and over. We believe that engaging with the community is an essential part of well being, not only by receiving connection but by offering it to others. So whether you are a boomer , part of Gen X or part of "The Greatest Generation" your suggestions are always welcome as the COA is for you!
Peacock Players: ALL SHOOK UP featuring the music of Elvis Presley. We are planning an excursion to see this musical in Nashua on Saturday May 16th 2 p.m. Matinee. Council on aging is purchasing a block of 25 tickets and will cover part of the ticket. We are asking for $10 per ticket. These tickets will be transferable but non-refundable once you sign up. We are also planning to gather for lunch ( not covered by COA) at Casa Vieja Mexican Grill just a short walk from the venue. To reserve your space, you must pay in advance. Payment can be at the senior luncheon or cash/check at Town Hall Upper Level attention : Chuck or by mailing in your payment to Dunstable C.O.A. 511 Main Street, Dunstable MA 01827 Checks can be made out to Town of Dunstable. Please include contact information when leaving or mailing payment. Only a few tickets left! Do not Wait.
Upcoming Weekly Wednesday Luncheons at The Dunstable Public Library (unless noted otherwise). Please remember to ensure we have enough food, your reservation for lunch must be made by the prior Wednesday. You can sign up at the luncheon or by reaching out to Chuck at [email protected] or 978-649-4514x223 A suggested contribution of $5 from those who can afford it, is greatly appreciated to offset costs, this is voluntary please do not let it stop you from attending. Lunch is served at Noon but the space is available from 10-2 p.m. Before and after lunch, there are several games you can join in on including Scrabble & Mexican Train Dominoes. Please see individual dates for unique entertainment or guests.
April 15- Turkey and Swiss Sandwiches with Pesto Pasta Salad and Corn Chowder
April 22nd - Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken - Fresh and Healthy. Chicken is on the side for Vegetarians.
April 29th - Grilled Hot Dog with baked beans and cinnamon apples.
May 6th- Spring Trip to Greater Lowell Vocational Technical High School. Meal at the Student Run Restaurant. No lunch will be served at the library at the day, but you are still welcome to gather for games. All inclusive, 3 course lunch with either Chicken Marsala or Baked Haddock will be $20 including a gratuity for the students. Payments must be made in advance to reserve your space. This year, the school is only able to accommodate 20 people, so this will fill up fast! Sign up at the weekly luncheon, drop by town hall upper level with a payment left attention :Chuck
May 13th A Special Pasta Dinner by Traveling Chef Caterers to celebrate several town residents who are turning 90 years old! Come celebrate them with us at the Library.
May 20th- Tacos & Bingo!!
EXERCISE PROGRAM
Bone Builders Exercise Class is free to residents at the Dunstable Public Library on Wednesdays at 10:30 A.M. and Friday at 11:15 A.M. If you have not participated before, please feel free to stop by to observe and pick up enrollment paperwork.
FREE! Fit Over 50 "Fitness Fusion Class" - As part of a Wellness Grant from Age Span this has been extended through February. This is a great class for those who are looking for a class that might be a little more challenging than Bone Builders. This Class Meets Monday Mornings at 11:30 a.m. at Town Hall Lower Level and is FREE! Fitness Fusion combines a variety of exercise styles to offer a low impact but powerful session that targets all areas of the body with great music and a fun atmosphere with a great instructor from the YMCA. This class is typically $10 so if you haven't tried it yet, come join in on Mondays while the cost is covered for you. There will be no class on President's Day April 20th

Health and Wellness:
Monthly Wellness Check Visits with a nurse are back the fourth Wednesday of every month from 11 a.m.- Noon.
