Town Owned Streetlights Converting to LEDs

In a few days, the Town’s contractor Central Mass Signals will begin converting existing streetlight fixtures (the fixtures not the poles were recently acquired by the Town) to LEDs. Acquiring the streetlight fixtures provided the Town the opportunity to reduce its utility bill by avoiding reoccurring maintenance charges from National Grid. In addition, the Town received a Green Communities Grant that will pay for the conversion including materials and labor for the streetlights to be converted to more energy efficient fixtures. There are approximately 70 fixtures that the Town owns that will be converted. The work will be ongoing throughout the month of April. The contractor will be mobilizing from the Town Hall area and may be seen throughout town where our streetlights are located.
