Duties & Responsibilities
The Animal Control Officer responds to complaints and concerns involving domestic animals, conducts kennel inspections, and enforces the Town of Dunstable's Dog Control Bylaw (Section 3).
The Officer also serves as the Animal Inspector, working to prevent the spread of disease among domestic animals and overseeing quarantine and other requirements when needed.
Wildlife concerns generally fall outside of the Animal Control Officer's responsibilities unless an animal shows signs of illness, such as rabies. Certain large wild animals, including bears, fall under the jurisdiction of the Massachusetts Environmental Police.
