Field Drivers

One of the town's traditional positions, Field Drivers take up untended animals such as horses, sheep, goats, swine, asses, and cattle going at large in public ways or commons or unimproved land not under care of a keeper and impounds them. We vote each year to have the Selectmen appoint these officers.

Pound Keeper

One of the town's traditional positions, responsible for taking care of any animals in the town pound. We vote each year to have the Selectmen appoint someone to this office.

Animal Control

Animal inspector surveys animals to prevent any diseases from spreading; enforces quarantine when necessary. Animal control officer removes and destroys animals that are a direct threat to public safety, ie. rabid raccoons, skunks, etc., and addresses dog complaints. The Dog Officer is the enforcing authority of violations against the Town of Dunstable Dog Control Bylaw (Section 3).
