I would like to remind the residents that there are still outstanding census forms; if you do not return your census form as required by MA law, your name will be moved to "inactive" voter status. The Board of Registrars is preparing the mailing now to inform you of the change. Once your name is moved to the "inactive" voting list, it does not mean you cannot vote; only that you must produce an ID with proof of your Dunstable address, and complete and sign "An Affirmation of Current and Continuous Residence" form which is also signed by the Election Warden and only then may you have a ballot. This process can take about 5 minutes, and if it is a busy election, it will take even longer. Following all of that, you can receive a ballot and your name will be restored to the "active" voting list. If you are at Town Hall, please take a minute to check the list of names whose census forms have not been returned and I'll be happy to print another copy for you to sign if your name is on the list. Under MA law, once your name is designated as "inactive" and you do not return the postcard from the Board of Registrars or vote in 2 biannual state elections, your name can be removed from the voting list.
