Burning Season runs from January 15 through May 1, weather dependent.

A written burning permit must be purchased from the Fire Department by any homeowner intending to burn. The standard burning permit fee is $10/year. If the homeowner is 65 years of age or older, the fee is waived, but a written permit is still required.

Permits are issued at the Fire Station between the hours of 9:00 am and Noon on Monday through Saturday.

Once issued, a burning permit is valid for the entire season; however homeowner must notify the Fire Dept. by calling the Fire Station at (978) 649-6072 on each day they are planning to burn. Burning can be restricted any day by Order of the Fire Chief, if weather is determined to be unsafe for burning.

Copies of Requirement for Outdoor Burning are available at the Fire Station.

For more information, call the Fire Station at (978) 649-6072, or Chief Charles Rich at (978) 433-8119.
