Dog Licenses

All dogs at age 6 months or older must be licensed in accordance with state law. A current rabies vaccination must be on file or presented at the time of licensing. License fees are $6.00 for spayed/neutered dogs, and $10.00 without proof of spaying/neutering. If the rabies certificate on file with the Town Clerk is current, you may purchase your license by mail . A self-addressed, stamped envelope must be enclosed. The licensing period in Dunstable is January 1 to December 30, with a $10.00 late fee after March 1, and and additional $25.00 fine assessed to licenses purchased after May 1, by order of the Town of Dunstable Dog Control bylaw . If you are new to town, please be sure to license your dog within 30 days. 

At the end of each year, you can apply for a particular dog tag number by filling out an application and mailing it to the Town Clerk, or emailing the required information to . (See attached application form.) If more than one person requests the same number, a drawing is held. Watch for an announcement near the end of each year regarding the deadline for filing dog tag number requests (typically mid-December).

The Town of Dunstable does not have a leash law; however, a dog must be confined to the owner’s property or under the control of the owner/keeper, or be firmly held on a leash.
