The following are some tips to help you avoid problems at the polls:
- Take time to study the ballot before election day.
For state elections, you do the following to view the ballot or the Town of Dunstable:
- Go to:
www.sec.state.ma.us
- Click the link for "who is on my ballot".
- Submit your address and the ballot will appear.
Watch this website for bulletins regarding posting of sample ballots for town elections. A Specimen Ballot is always displayed at the Town Hall prior to any
election, and a Specimen Ballot is displayed at the polls so you can view
the ballot before checking in.
- Keep in mind that traffic in and out of the Library parking lot
can be heavy at times. Please proceed through the parking lot carefully. Allow extra time
for parking. After you vote, please leave as quickly as possible to
free up parking space for other voters.
- The Accuvote is programmed for overvotes [voting more than the
number of candidates allowed for each office] and if you overvote, your
ballot will be rejected when deposited. Please be careful to only vote
for the number allowed in each race.
- Always bring an ID. You may be one of the voters not required to show it,
but many of you won't know this until you check in.
- Privacy sleeves are available at check in if you are concerned about
the privacy of your ballot. The check-in clerks will show you how to use
them.
- If you have any questions, call the Town Clerk's office and leave a
voice mail or send email to
any time, up until the night before the
election.
Please be assured that the election workers are there to assist you if
you have questions while checking in or out. Many of them attended a
training session conducted by the Secretary of State's office. The
election officials have
taken every precaution to ensure that the day goes by without major
incident and look forward to seeing you at the polls.
