The Dunstable Horse Owners’ Organization is dedicated to the preservation and encouragement of equine activities in the town of Dunstable. In the spirit of community citizenship, the organization supports and works with town departments to ensure the safety of Dunstable residents, as well as the equines that reside within the community. Members promote the enjoyment of outdoor activities for Dunstable residents by initiating activities to inform Dunstable residents of community equine resources, and supporting the preservation of community open spaces and environmental resources. For example, the group started a project to map the trails in town, and people that live and ride in similar areas are getting together to explore the trails and extend the map.
The organization also reaches out to other community organizations and individuals interested in preserving the unique character of our agricultural community. For example, during this past year, the DHO conducted a riding demonstration at the Strawberry Festival, pony rides at two of the Summer Concerts, and held a Flea Market at the Little Red Schoolhouse. In addition to raising funds for the DHO, they have also donated proceeds from their fundraising efforts to DRLT, the Tyngsborough-Dunstable Historical Society, as well as Conservation and Recreation efforts in town.
Meetings are held at 7:30pm around the end of each month at the Dunstable Library, alternating between Mondays and Wednesdays. Check the calendar, or contact the organization to confirm the actual date of any meeting.
