Absentee ballots are available for every election.
You may qualify for an absentee ballot if you are unable to vote at the polls on election day due to absence from the town during normal polling hours; or a physical disability prevents you from going to the polling place; or because of your religious belief. The application must be received by noon on Monday if the election falls on a Tuesday. For elections that fall on a Monday, the application must be received by the Town Clerk by the preceding Friday at 5:00 pm.
There are two ways to vote by an absentee ballot...
- Click here to download and fill out an official application for an absentee ballot. (Verbal or email requests for a ballot won't work.)
- Mail the application to the Town Clerk at Dunstable, MA 01827.
(The Town Clerk will process your application and send you a ballot in the mail.)- When you receive your official ballot, fill it out right away and either mail or hand-deliver it to the Town Clerk.
Be sure to allow time for the documents to travel by mail so your ballot gets to the Town Clerk before the deadline.
You can go down to the Town Clerk's office to fill out an application and cast your ballot (the same filing deadline applies), however if you choose to vote at town hall, please be aware the application states “I will call the town clerk and vote at a time arranged with the clerk”.
NOTE: The Town Clerk may only accept applications with original signatures. Therefore, faxed copies are not acceptable.
The Town Clerk sometimes posts special hours for handling over-the-counter voting. Voters who are unable to vote at the polls may cast an over-the-counter vote at Town Hall. An absentee ballot application must be filed prior to casting your ballot.
